Voluntary Health Association of India

Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) is a non-profit, registered society formed in the year 1970. It is a federation of 24 State Voluntary Health Associations, linking together more than 4000 health care institutions and grassroots level community health programs spread across the country. Childline

CHILDLINE is India’s first 24-hour, free, emergency phone service for children in need of aid and assistance. CHILDLINE is a partnership platform bringing together the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, the UNICEF, the Department of Telecommunications, street and community youth, non-profit organisations, academic institutions, the corporate sector and concerned individuals. The North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) is funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The overall objective of NERCORMP is to improve the livelihood of vulnerable groups in a sustainable manner through improved management of their resource base in a way that contributes to preservation and restoration of the environment. Meghalaya Rural Development Society

The Meghalaya Rural Development Society (MRDS) was established in 22nd June 2004, to implement the Livelihoods Improvement Project for the Himalayas in Meghalaya, a joint venture of the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the State Government of Meghalaya. The primary objective of the Project is to improve the livelihood of vulnerable groups in a sustainable manner through the promotion of improved livelihood opportunities and strengthening of local institutions that relate to livelihood development. National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Act, 1981 was passed by the Indian Parliament and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) was established on 12 July 1982 as a development Bank. NABARD is an apex institution, accredited with all matters concerning policy, planning and operations in the field of credit for agriculture and other economic activities in rural areas in India. The Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd. (MCAB) was established in 1971, with the formation of Meghalaya state after bifurcation of the erstwhile Assam State. Since then the Bank has developed and expanded its activities / operations and has grown manifold. MCAB started its operations just with two branches-one each at Shillong and the other at Tura. Today, the Bank has wide network of 40 Branches, spread through out the State providing effective banking and other related services to the general public in Meghalaya. North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd.

North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi) was incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956, on August 9, 1995 with its registered office at Guwahati, Assam, for the development of industries, infrastructure, animal husbandry, agri-horticulture plantation,  medicinal plantation, sericulture plantation, aquaculture, poultry and dairy in the North Eastern states of India. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), a specialized agency of the United Nations, was established as an international financial institution in 1977 as one of the major outcomes of the 1974 World Food Conference. The conference resolved that "an International Fund for Agricultural Development should be established immediately to finance agricultural development projects primarily for food production in the developing countries". NEICORD is a non-profit Christian organization responding to the needs of the poor and marginalized, irrespective of color, race religion and gender. In November 1981, a group of concerned Christian leaders, whose hearts were filled with compassion came together and prayed to seek and address to the needs of the suffering of the poor and marginalized. Samrakshan is a registered non-profit organisation working in India for sustainable livelihoods for forest dependent communities and ensuring a kinder world for non human animals. A salient feature of Samrakshan's work is to foster future conservation and development leaders from among the local population. RGVN has been in the "development" sector for more than a decade. RGVN's aim has always been to improve the quality of life of the poor - "food", "clothing" and "shelter", a prerequisite to it. The NGO Support Program and the Credit and Savings Program has been able to cater to the first two requirements of a better quality of life. Rural development not only encompasses livelihood promotion but an overall improvement in the living conditions of the poor ….. , and "shelter" is one of the important development indicators.
